Why does the establishment want Tesla to be forgotten?

Question

May 11, 2008

Tesla has pretty much been taken out of the picture by our government and put on the 'Back Burner,' why is this? He did so much for our country and it seems that the establishment wants him to be forgotten, why?

David - USA

Answer

One reason for Tesla's ability to make discoveries and inventions is that he was very independent in his work. Unfortunately, that was also his downfall, along with a number of poor business decisions. There are a number of great inventors who have not been given much credit their work, while others who are good in self-promotion received undue credit. Tesla was one of these inventors.

The government has nothing to do with Tesla's place in science. In fact, the scientific community honored Tesla by naming a unit of magnetic fields after him. Even Edison has no scientific unit named after him. Also, there are numerous books about the life and works of Tesla.

No one wants him forgotten, and there is renewed interest in his work.

Wants to be like Tesla

Question

May 25, 2004

To start with I am Enger Tony Adams 20 years of age and a student of IMT studying Electrical Electronic Engineering. I have gone through the life biography of Thomas Edison and Nikola Tesla and I really good importation on that. So my question goes like this, why Nikola Tesla letter be the greatest than Edison? Because I understand that Nikola Tesla is the founder of AC, which is the best than DC. And Edison is the founder of that of Dc. So why?

Then my second question is this, what will I do to be like Nikola Tesla? Please advice.

Let me stop her till I hear from you.
Thanks and always be in contact with me okay.
Am wishing you God’s Protections.
Yours truly

Answer

Thomas Edison was a great inventor, but he was also a very good businessman. His inventions were usually very salable. His big mistake was pushing DC electricity, when AC was better. But he had a good eye for new ideas.

On the other hand, Nikola Tesla was a true genius. His inventions still amaze people. It is difficult to find out how he came up with his ideas. There are good books explaining his inventions and his different way of looking at things.

Unfortunately, Tesla was not very practical with some of his ideas. Also, he did not have the business sense to manage what he had invented.

Both Edison and Tesla were known to always thinking of new ideas. In your studies, it is not only good to learn the fundamentals, but to also think of new and clever applications of what you learn. If you truly enjoy your field, if you look for the new and untried, but you keep your eye on areas that people can use, you should do well in electrical electronic engineering. You have the potential to be a champion in the field.

Best wishes in your studies.

Ruling on Tesla versus Marconi

Question

December 26, 2003

I enjoyed your discussion of Tesla and the AC polyphase generator. Few people are aware that the Supreme court ruled in 1943 that Tesla's application for radio predated Marconi's. This was after Tesla's death and years after Marconi had taken financial advantage of his patent.

Answer

I guess Tesla got the "short end of the stick" for many of his inventions.

Screenplay info

Question

March 9, 2003

For the past several years I’ve been doing research for a screenplay about Tesla. He was the victim of a smear campaign by not only Edison but also J.P. Morgan and his cronies. They didn’t like Tesla’s ideas about "free energy". They saw that coal and oil could be packaged, distributed, controlled and monopolized in a way that was immediately threatened by Tesla’s idea. They even went so far as to plant rumors to the effect that Tesla was trying to supply the Russians with a death ray.
