Answer
Adobe purchased Macromedia, so it is now called Adobe Flash.
You can download the free Flash player from www.adobe.com.
The program to create Flash files, Flash MX, is not free and is fairly expensive. But you can download free or inexpensive clones from sites listed at: http://www.school-for-champions.com/flash/rad.htm

Do you have any knowledge of closed captioning for flash files? We produce captions and are getting request from the Educational industry to caption flash files for accessibility issues.

Answer
Flash animations are very good to demonstrate the features of a product or device. But it is best not to do a whole page in Flash. If some of your users do have have Flash installed, they may not be able to see anything. But if you only have your demonstration in Flash, they still will be able to get the information they need.
Also, usability surveys have shown that people have problems with pages that are completely in Flash. Often there is too much animation or clever things that take away from getting the information they want.
The best approach is to use Flash for showing things but also include HTML text to explain and give information. Text in Flash is not easy to read.
I hope this helps you in your website.
Problems in learning Flash
Question
October 31, 2004
I am in Brazil. I've been trying to learn programming using Flash. My main problem is to stablish differences between tools and resources. The main reason is I can't find definition of concepts. Another reason is Macromedia is modifying the layout that turn most existing literature obsolete. I couldn't find the difference between Movie Clip and Animated Graph
