Purchased Wonder Ware Cookware in 1967
Question
June 13, 2009
I purchased my set of Wonder Ware Cookware in July of 1967. I still have every pot, pan, lid, and accessory the set came with. I use this cookware every day. The only problem I've ever had was the handles became worn. What a great investment!

Answer
To still be using a product after over 40 years shows that it was a great investment. Wonder Ware is supported by Regal Ware in Wisconsin. Try (414) 626-8500 or 1-800-313-8807 to see if you can get new handles.
Can't get the lid off my waterless cookware pot
Question
June 5, 2009
I'm not sure how to get the lid off, after heating pot it's very tight.do I put it back on the stove and turn on the heat? It's been a long time since I use them.

Answer
With some waterless cookware, heating the pot and then allowing it to cool creates a partial vacuum in the pot, sealing the lid on tight. The lid will loosen if you heat the pot. But if there is no liquid or food in the pot, you could score the bottom. In such a case, place the pot in hot water to loosen the lid.
Your cookware is good
Question
January 22, 2009
By accident I came across your website.
I purchased your set in the early seventies and used them since. They are still impeccable.Of course tops and handles are a bit "worn out" but for the rest they are as new. I can thus with reason recommend your product to everyone.
You have my permission to publish this comment on your website. I will never find a product worth that much the money I paid for it.

Question

Thank you for your info. I have an old set of pots and pans (Town House by West Bend) I bought some 25 years ago second hand. My question is can you tell me if they are waterless cookware?

Answer
Waterless (or near-waterless) cookware usually have a thick bottom and curved top that keeps in the water and steam.
I'm not sure about Town House, but you might check West Bend's Cookware Consumer Service Dept, Phone: 262-626-8623; E-mail: info@westbendcookware.com
They might be able to give you the information.

I bought a set of MAV waterless, surgical steel, cookware in the 70's. It was made in Canada. I have used it every day sence. I don't want to use any other but my handles are breaking making it dangerous to lift hot pans full of food. Where can I buy replacement handles for them?

Answer
We have no information on that company. Most likely, they are no longer in business.
Your best bet may be to check with a local repair shop to see if they have some generic handles that will fit your cookware.
Needs lid for Temp-Tone cookware
Question
October 16, 2008
I have a basic Temp-Tone waterless cookware set. I had lost a lid and broken one lid knob and was wanting to purchase replacements. I love my waterless cookware set. I was also thinking of trying to purchase more of the set. It seems that the Temp-Tone is no longer availble. I will probably look at some of the other sets to add to what I have.

Answer
Your set may be Maxam Chef's Secret cookware. The cookware is advertised in various places, including Amazon.com. For some reason Maxam does not have a website. Their customer service number is: 214-333-2111 x6000. They may be able to give you more information.
I hope that helps.
Guardian Service Cookware and leaching
Question
July 25, 2008
Your website is very informative and I certainly appreciate your candor. Does Guardian Service Cookware fall into the safe non-leaching catagory? I inherited my mother's and use it often. After attending a Salad Master party, I am ready to throw away all my pots and pans except the Guardian cookware.
Thank You
Toni - USA

Answer
Guardian Service Cookware has been around for a long time. It is made of heavy duty aluminum. Pots made of inexpensive soft aluminum can leach, especially when cooking acidic foods. Saladmaster representatives often use such pots as a demonstration of leaching. They put some baking soda in warm water in the pot.
The Guardian Service Cookware seems to be made of a harder, better form of aluminum. I haven't heard anything bad about Guardian Service Cookware, but the fact that it is made of aluminum is a negative point. Many people are moving away from aluminum cookware.
I've seen Guardian Service Cookware for sale on eBay and ads where people are looking for it, so that might be something to think about, if you plan to get rid of your cookware.
Happy with Wonder Ware cookware since 1972
Question
July 24, 2008
I bought my Wonder Ware pots and pans as a 19 year old, newly engaged girl. They cost $250.00 back then and my parents and fiance thought I was nuts to spend so much money on pots and pans. I have used them almost every single day since 1972. I'm just now replacing a handle on the large pot. So, they turned out to be one of the best investments I've ever made. Just wanted to let you know.

Answer
That's fantastic! There aren't many things you can buy in 1972, use every day and still be happy with the product.
You provide a good advertisement for such an investment.
Best wishes on another 30 years of good use.
