TQM Plan for Martin Marietta Electronics and Missile Group

by Ron Kurtus (27 May 2008)

Martin Marietta was a major U.S. defense contractor in the 1980s. With the consolidation of defense firms in the 1990s, the company merged with aerospace contractor Lockheed to become Lockheed Martin in 1995. During the late 1980s, most defense contractors began implementing Total Quality Management (TQM), partly under pressure from the Department of Defense (DoD), which was moving toward TQM at the time.

In 1989, the Martin Marietta Electronics & Missile Group released a document outlining their plan for implementing TQM. This material can be helpful in implementing TQM in your own organization.
