Hello, I am a junior at Bedford High School. I have read your page on Near Death Experiences and for the most part, I agree with you. I am doing a research paper on NDEs and have decided to use your web site in my research. I particularly like the way you present the fact that NDEs are possibly bogus.

Thoughts on NDE
After a first reading your page about whether near death experiences happen and here are my first thoughts about it:
I read something of bother, like it should be a logic conclusion; when doctors can simulate a NDE. by using drugs, the experience is fake. Why do you think one excludes the other? To me that is not logical. To me it can be both.
Did you ever think of how similar the near-death experience is to astral journeys? That is a meditation-technique. Maybe one goes further than the other, but they meet the same kind of stages in a way. For instance, it is possible that using drug gives stage 1, astral journeys gives stage 1 and 2, near-death experience give stage 1, 2, 3 And what stage is death itself? something more?
What’s wrong in just knowing that you don’t know? To me that seems the best way to keep an open mind. I never understand this ‘the doctors found; so….’-conclusions.
Try an other example: So sexuality has to do with hormones. Did it ever changed anyone’s experience of sexuality? I don’t think so.
Another thought; When people with near-death experiences are telling lives got more meaningful. It is not necessary to have proof. Just ask how they experience life. During typing, I wonder how many people answered the same question on this page. Just curiosity; are you receiving the same answer over and over in thousandth time again?

Had NDE at childbirth
I had a near death experience about 10 years ago with the birth of my first child. I began to hemorrhage in labor and suddenly all the pain was gone and a warm, peaceful feeling came over me. I opened my eyes and felt pressure on my back but realized that I was on the ceiling and looking down at myself on the stretcher. It was then I saw the blood which I thought up until that time was urine.
I closed my eyes and began to float towards a light in the distance. I could hear the panic of the nurses and doctors. around me, but it did not matter to me. I could hear them talking but could not answer, but I did not want to answer them.
The next thing a knew I had extreme pain again and woke up in the recovering room, a new mom. I did not see angels or God, but the experience gave me new ideas on death.
I was at the time working as a palliative care nurse and my head nurse said that she has the same experience with the birth of her child. For many years I knew that something has happened to me but it is like a puzzle, pieces of what happen come to me every once in awhile. I just did not wake up and remember everything.
Thanks for listening. Was it my body’s extreme reaction to the stress it was under I do not know but I know one thing and that is that I will never have fear of death, dying and leaving my love ones yes, but the actual death, never.

Experience brought hope
I was very glad to see that other people had similar experiences as mine. You see few years ago, I when I was giving birth to my first daughter, I had a NDE. And thanks to God for the experience. It gave me back my hope about life after death.
Before that I used to think that after death there was nothing. It was like when you turn of the light… the darkness, the emptiness. Nothing.
But I was wrong. There is something wonderful and peaceful after death. Your heart may stop, but the new world is opening this door in front of us. It has change my life!
But I have to admit that since this experience, many new things have happened in my life. Some are very positive, but others are unless pleasant. But I learned to deal with it. And reading about others’ experiences with NDE has comforted me. Thank you very very much..

In 1973 I died and was sent back against my will. Prior to the experience, I was raised to have Christian faith and believe. After getting back, I know.
I rarely talk about it, because I am afraid of offending traditional Christians, but now I have a different way of living and worshiping. If the scientists can duplicate what happened to me, then the world population should be running for the treatment. God bless and keep you all as He does.

In conclusion
