About Ron Kurtus
(revised 3 December 2013)
My name is Ron Kurtus, and I am the founder of the School for Champions and the author of most of the lessons and articles in the website.
The material in the website follows his philosophy on how to live a productive and satisfying life, as well as to help others do the same.
Ron's background is as follows:
Education
Ron graduated from Rufus King High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
He then graduated with majors in both Mathematics and Physics from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He went on to study advanced Physics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Then he did his graduate work in Mathematics at Missouri University under Dr. Leonard M. Blumenthal, an associate of Einstein.
Teaching
Ron taught Mathematics at Missouri University, Physical Science and Computer Science at the Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC), and Mathematics at Waukesha County Technical College (WCTC) in Wisconsin.
Engineering
Ron worked as an electro-optical engineer at McDonnell Aircraft Company in St. Louis, Missouri, during the early space program. He then became a member of the technical staff at the Santa Barbara Research Center, developing weather satellites.
Entertainment
Ron left engineering to pursue a career in entertainment and writing. He started one of the biggest comedy showcases in the nation, produced comedy shows and performed stand-up comedy around the country. He also wrote a screenplay and television sitcom series. Unfortunately, neither was purchased by Hollywood producers.
During this time, Ron also gave motivational speeches to organizations and prison facilities.
Space Defense
Upon returning to scientific work, Kurtus became the Total Quality Manager for the U.S. Air Force's Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI) programs, working as a civilian with the equivalent rank of major. His efforts saved the program about $30 million in the area of software development.
Business
He later started his own business—Kurtus Technologies—providing computer-based training, programming and technical documentation to businesses.
He also taught Physics at Milwaukee Area Technical College, which resulted in developing the seeds of the School for Champions as a way to help his students learn.
School for Champions
Being concerned about how many students are being left behind due to incomplete instruction, as well as the need for improved attitudes and character among both young and mature people, Ron then started the School for Champions in 2000.
Its mission is to show people how to achieve their dreams and help them become champions in their endeavors.
Home life
Ron lives with his wife, Eleanor, and Golden Retriever, Zoe, in Lake Oswego, Oregon.
