The first place to start is to look at the students who are not doing well in school. Don’t pick the kids who are not too bright or who have some learning disability. Rather, observe those who have the ability but who have attitudes, who have personality traits, or who do things that cause them to get poor grades.

Study them. Then, don’t do that!

It is amazing how you can observe a person who gets good grades and find the reasons he or she fails. Quite often, it is not because of lack of skill. Usually, it is some other reason.

Learn from the winners

Now, observe the students who are doing well in school. Don’t look at who they are. Rather look at what they do.

For example, don’t bother with the class brain, the rich kid or the person who is real good looking. They may be succeeding in school for reasons over which you have no control.

Instead, study the student who has certain study habits, who knows how to deal with the teacher, and who has confidence in his or her ability. You can learn the things these students are doing to succeed in school.

Often they aren’t the smartest nor the hardest working, but they just seem to be able to excel.

By observing others and studying both the winners and losers in school, you can learn factors that will help you succeed in school and get better grades, without having to overdo studying.
