He was also involved in national defense security issues, holding a Secret security clearance at Hughes Aircraft Company and a Top Secret clearance as part of the Air Force’s Strategic Defense Initiative Programs.

Ron graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and did graduate work at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the University of Missouri. He also taught Business Mathematics at Waukesha County Technical College.
